"An author visit by Jackie Mims Hopkins is a treat you won't want to miss. Her fractured fairy tale books encourage student participation, especially Gold Miner's Daughter. The kids love connecting a new story with old favorite fairy tale characters. She inspires the students to try their hand at writing by giving them concrete cues to remember from her visit. Ideas are all around us -- you have to pay attention!!! Her Shelf Elf books bring imagination and curiosity back into the lives of young readers and listeners while teaching them how to care for and use the library. The joy will last a long time after the visit has ended!" |
